Men CAN Get Sexually Transmitted Diseases From Toilet Seats: I Know, Because I Did

It irks me when I hear someone say, "You cannot get a disease from a toilet seat. There is no scientific evidence of it ever happening." From 1970 to 1972 I was stationed on the USS Lang, DE1060, in Long Beach, California. A lot of sailors, not many toilet stalls. Roberts left one and I took his place. Sitting down, my penis touched some slimy substance on the toilet seat. I wiped it off, but the damage was done. Roberts had apparently dripped or smeared discharge from his infected penis onto the seat just before I sat down.

Of course I did not know until I later needed to visit the ship's sick bay, where I caught that Roberts was the only other active case on the ship. I had not been with anyone else who had the disease, so at least men can transmit this disease by inadvertently touching a contaminated toilet seat. It was unfortunate and perhaps rare, but it did happen, can happen, does happen. I am certain that the medical records of the USS Lang for Daniel Steele and D. Roberts are still available to any researcher who wants to prove it.
